I was born and raised in Asheboro, NC. I came to the Raleigh area for college and career opportunities in the Research Triangle Park.

I am a graduate student researching the field of microfluidics. Specifically, I am designing a chip to count subpopulations of blood cells or other particles identifiable by surface chemistry. My interests lie in the field of medical diagnostics. It is my hope that advancements in technology for use in medicine will lessen the impact of social, political, and economic factors on healthcare. After completion of my PhD I look forward to pursuing my own entrepreneurial activities.
